I always hate writing about myself for these excerpts, so I'm going to try and keep it real because I figure if you've taken the time to read this part of the site, then you want to get to know me a little better. (Besides, there's LinkedIn for everything else.)
I was born in GuangZhou, in the South-East of China early in 1991 and was, in every way, a product of the post-war expansion period of China. My parents both graduated at the top of their classes and struggled through life to bring me the best childhood possible. So when I was 4 years old, we immigrated to New Zealand.
In New Zealand, I attended a slew of schools in primary education due to moving around a lot - before settling in around Hillcrest in the North Shore. In May of 2000, we immigrated to Sydney, Australia.
I attended Sydney Boys High for secondary school, before pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering & Bachelor of Design in Architecture at the University of Sydney in 2009. I took a gap year from my studies in 2012 to do an internship with Woods Bagot in Beijing, China. I adapted quite quickly and it is one of my favorite cities to visit. Upon returning in 2013, and reinvigorated with a new perspective on the practice of Architecture, I continued on to graduate with honours in May of 2015.
I have a passion for great food, single malts, hoodies, innovative design and immersive experiences. I love to travel, I'm interested in philosophy, and I'm always on the lookout for something new. So drop me a line if you want to work with me, ask me something or even just for a chat. I promise I don't bite.
I am currently looking for work again! But I have resolved now to only do work that I believe in.
quotes I try to live by
"If it is to be, it is up to me"
William H. Johnsen
"Stop looking outside for scraps of pleasure or fulfillment, for validation, security, or love — you have a treasure within that is infinitely greater than anything the world can offer."
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
"This entire thing we're involved with called the world, is an opportunity to exhibit how exciting alienation can be. Life is a matter of a miracle that is collected over time by moments, flabbergasted to be in each other's presence. The world is an exam to see if we can rise into direct experience. Our eyesight is here as a test to see if we can see beyond it. Matter is here as a test for our curiosity. Doubt is here as an exam for our vitality."
Excerpt from Waking Life by Timothy 'Speed' Levitch
"The first step before anybody else in the world believes it - is you have to believe it."
"The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times."
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
